Hand-stitched Sheeep.

After my stitched Jims I felt like making an entire image instead of a little sample.
I had the idea for this image by looking back through some of my Foundation work.
The scan doesn't do justice to the embroidery.
It looks dirty. I assure you its not.

Fabric painting is more time consuming then it looks.
Every layer of paint you put down has to be tumble dried until its completely dry.
I had several attempts before I realised this where the ink ran which was really frustrating.
I think this technique would work really well in a childrens book.
You rarely see entirely stitched illustrations.

Hand-stitched Jim.

I've bought a new sewing machine this week. I've been waiting in all week for it to arrive.
I'm so excited!
When it comes i'm going to do some free motion darning.
While i've been waiting ive been doing some hand stitched embroidery.
I stitched Jim from my last story book.

With the second Jim I tried to paint some fur texture.
I like the scruffy outline but I don't know whether it just looks like I can't sew..?
