Some insects but mostly seals...

I don't just photograph birds, I also like snapping other wildlife. The few images are of grey seals which were taken in Northumberland last summer, where I hung out of a boat in the farne islands.

Watch out for the birdie...

I am a self confessed twitcher. I love birds and bird photography, and I spent a whole summers wages on a new camera and lenses so I could do as much of it as possible. Southampton doesn't breed a great variety of birds, mainly magpies seagulls and pidgeons, so when I go home I like to do as much photography as possible. Although my friends know I do like pidgeons.

One Day Project

The other day we had a one day project, where a Canadian artist came into University and set us a project. I hate to admit this but I can't remember his name, but he did some cool illustration using nets for boxes which he drew on then constructed to see how it would alter the image when pieced together.

We were set the task of creating a response to the Japan Tsunami by drawing onto objects rescued from the skip outside, such as boxes pieces of wood and metal ect.. but we had to use the techniques that we'd researched from other cultures. Me Poppy and Erin worked together on this one. Not going to lie, it wasn't our best piece of work, although it did take us five hours, it didn't look as though it had, but it was nice to work on a group project for a change.

We made a house out of a cardboard box, complete with a slanted roof and opening door.

We drew water around the bottom of the house as though it had been flooded, using waves influenced by greek painting. Inside the house was japanese writing and warning instructions so when you looked through the windows you could read them.

We ripped one side of the box off so the house looked as though it was damaged like the Japanese houses.

As you can see its big enough to sit in also...

Just anouther hard days work for the first years...

Monoprinting gets very messy, very quickly.

Remember my current project about my dreams where I did a photoshop collage? Well I saw the others monoprinting today and I wanted a go, I havent done any since foundation, so I drew my dream out from the collage. I then went home and added some colour and tried again. I definately want to do some more of this! Its just a shame we go home for easter and won't be in the print room !

I do love Collage.

As well as collaging onto my envelopes I thought that I should do some collages on paper as well. Would love to know what people think of them as I really like them!

This last image was just the sheet I used to practise my first print on but I quite like how i've built an image up on it. Might add some colour to it?

I've been in the print room all day. Its depressing me how much I enjoy it. When I leave university theres no way I can afford to keep doing it! I've combined the experiments I did before, carrying on with my postmen.

I drew out 8 different posties and did some collaging and added colour using markers then printed on them. I'm pretty pleased with them. I really want to make a childrens book out of them but I should be leaving this project alone now and working on the next...

I think this image looks like a window looking at the postman aproaching the house. I might draw on the envelope to emphasise this, but i'm worried it might ruin it... to the photocopier!
